Happy 1st Birthday Evan!
Happy 1st Birthday to Evan! It has been a great year - fun and scary times wrapped all in one. One year ago today Evan was born with the cord wrapped around his neck twice and was unable to breathe, blue and purple from coming out so fast. It seems like yesterday. Now healthy and happy, I don't know what we did before him. Here are some pictures from the year that seems to have gone by far too fast - Evan as a newborn, his first Christmas, in the hospital with RSV (definitely a scary - and exhausting - time), at the beach, enjoying some outside time, and demolishing his cake at his 1st birthday party this past weekend! You've brought us nothing but joy, we love you Evan!

Tangled in Tinsel...
Lights actually.
We started decorating for Christmas today. I meant to start Monday but I have had a horrible cold all week. Feeling much better now. Logan is so excited about Christmas and everything having to do with Christmas. Chris got our artificial tree out of the attic last night (we'll get our real tree Saturday), and Logan was dancing around the house singing "I love Christmas trees!". Evan's not sure what to think yet. He bats at the tree because it feels funny.
This morning Logan was on my toes saying "Put the lights on Mom, so I can put the orgamons on it". For those of you that need a translater - 'orgamons' is how Logan says ornaments.
My mom (Nana) bought him a Veggietales nativity set last year (Veggietales is a Christian cartoon). I pulled it out yesterday and he LOVES it - so does Evan, which creates some tension between brothers! This morning Logan comes in the kitchen "Mama! I lost Baby Jesus...poor, poor Baby Jesus!" I couldn't help but giggle. "What?" I said. Logan says "He's lost in our couch." Logan had lost the Baby Jesus toy from the Veggietales set in our couch. But don't fret - we fished him out and all is well!
I was stringing the lights on the tree and Logan was sitting next to me patiently, for the most part, asking me WHY questions. You know - why is the grass green? why is it cold outside? etc. For the 20th time just today he wanted to know why his Papa was at work.
Logan: Why can't Papa come to my house?
Me: Cause Papa's at work.
Logan: Why?
Me: Because Papa needs to make money.
Logan: So he can buy me more toys?
Me: Exactly right.
Isn't it much easier to think in a child's perspective? It makes work seem so much more enjoyable if you're working for toys and fun stuff rather than just mortgages and car payments.
Here's some pictures from this week. You may recognize the shirt Evan has on in the last two. Logan wore this shirt last winter - it's a 2T. Now Evan isn't even 1 yet, and it fits him perfect. Their pediatrician keeps telling me that he thinks Evan won't be as big as Logan, well I'm just not convinced yet! The first picture is Evan's first PB&J sandwich. He thought it was yummy to say the least and ate every bite!

November Pictures and Videos
Here are some pictures and videos that I haven't sent out.
Logan playing with playdough and Evan crawling around under the table:
Papa came down to watch the game Saturday with Chris and the boys' while I went to Christmas Village - looks like they had a good time!
I love pictures like this one of them playing nice together (Sunday before church)...
Logan in his Indian outfit he made at school (with his Power Ranger pj's underneath).
Here are some really cute videos. The 1st one is Logan reading the book "The Very Busy Spider". He loves this book and has it memorized, it's so sweet to listen to. The last video is me catching Evan crawling up the stairs. You can tell giggle-monster Logan is the culprit.

Jokes and more jokes......
Logan is at the age where he says the funniest (and random!) things. Before Halloween Chris taught him a knock knock joke for Halloween:
Knock, Knock
Who's There?
Boo
Boo Who?
Don't you cry!
This Halloween joke never gets told right by Logan, he's always asking one of us what to say next but he'll learn - next year he'll have it down perfect!
So tonight Chris and I were in his room doing his bedtime routine - talking, telling bedtime stories, etc. - and Chris starts in with more jokes:
Chris: Logan, why did the chicken cross the road?
Logan: (looks at me) Mama, why did the chicken cross the road?
Me: To get to the other side.
Logan: That silly chicken!
Chris and I were hysterical - so of course that started Chris on another 'bad dad joke' (that's what I call bad jokes that dad's only seem to say - must be part of the dad initiation, more on that later!) More of our conversation with Logan:
Chris: Pete and Repeat were sitting on a log, Pete fell off, who's left?
Logan: (with a look of complete seriousness) PLUTO!
Too funny.....
Here's some pics from this past weekend when MiMi came to visit Sunday.

Yuck!

Dad, I can't believe you were going to let me eat that!

Here's the boys in their new ALABAMA chairs that Mimi brought. They're mini-sized for kids - so cute!

Trick or Treat!
I hope everyone had a great Halloween. We sure did. We went Trick or Treating with the Sweatt family and everyone seemed to have a blast (that is until it got past Evan's bedtime). It's so fun experiencing things through your children's eyes. Getting candy that you could buy at any old grocery store becomes such a joy when you get to go door to door in a costume!
Here's a picture taken when we were about done for the night: Tate, Evan, John Pearson, Callie, and Logan
