Week 21

Layne is as big as a banana!
From thebump.com - Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

Layne's Room

Now that the boys are settled (they slept from 8:30-6:15 last night with minimal chattering and ball throwing), I have been working on getting Layne's room ready.
My mom and dad brought down her furniture last weekend. She is using the same crib as Logan and Evan but her chest of drawers and desk is what I used when I was little - not really 'little', more like 13.
Her room isn't near finished, but I thought I'd post what I had picked out.
These are her crib sheets. I got them from Pottery Barn Kids (the Penelope pattern).

This is her window valance ordered from JCPenneys that came in today! I can't wait to iron it and get it up!!

I'll post other room pictures as I get it together...

Keep Out!! Boys Only!

These are pictures of Logan and Evan's 'new' big boy room.

**new posts below (I'm on a roll today!)

How's It Going?

That's the question of the hour since the boys have started sharing a room. My answer - not horrible but not fantastic either.
Night 1 (Friday Night):
8:30 - Bedtime
9:00 - I go in there room because they are still giggling and talking and tell them to close their eyes and that I better not hear any more talking.
10:00 - I peek in their room to see them playing 'catch' with a stuffed animal. Throwing it from bed to bed.
10:30 - Logan has now moved to Evan's bed, still both chattering away. I put them back in the correct bed.
11:30 - Logan comes and wakes me up and tells me Evan wants me.
2:00 - I wake up and check on them. One of them has knocked the fan off the nightstand. I move the fan across the room to prevent future fires. However, both boys are sleeping!!
2:45 - Logan and Evan both come and wake me up and say they want to sleep in my bed. I grab a blanket and pillow and I (and Layne) sleep the rest of the night on the floor between their twin beds.
Night 2 (Saturday Night):
8:45 - Bedtime. Logan is whiny and says he wants his old bed back. Has a crying fit.
9:11 - That is the last time I saw the clock before I crashed, I was so tired.
12:30 - I wake up in a panic because I have not checked on the boys. I peek in there, and they are sound asleep.
4:30 - Evan wakes up crying because his diaper leaked and he has wet the bed. I changed his diaper, pajamas, and removed the wet sheets. Then Layne and I camped out between the beds again until 6:00 AM.
Night 2 was pretty successful. I hope tonight goes even better!!

Tball - Opening Day

Yesterday was Opening Day at Chelsea. Logan is on the Red Sox team this year, he is #10 like Chris was at Alabama. We are so proud of him, he is growing up so fast!! They played the Tigers yesterday. Here are tons of pictures from the day! It was a lot of fun with great weather!

The Friday Five

  1. Logan and Evan get their new twin beds today. They will be sharing a room, while Layne gets the nursery. This is Evan's 1st time in a big boy bed. Wish us sleep.
  2. Tomorrow is Logan's 1st Tball game. I will update with pictures tomorrow.
  3. Evan is scared silly of the Easter Bunny.
  4. Logan wants to send the Easter Bunny a wish list like we do Santa. He's thrilled that a strange bunny will be leaving gifts at our house.
  5. Chris and I registered for Layne this past weekend at Babies R Us and Target. The last time I registered was when I was pregnant with Logan. It is alot more chaotic trying to register with 2 boys running around the store!! Let's just say it was a 'quick' trip.

Week 20

Layne is as big as a cantaloupe!
From thebump.com - Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

The Friday Five

  1. We got a new van! It's a Black Honda Odyssey. Someone contacted Chris about it, because it was black, and we just lucked out. I'm so happy with my mommy vehicle.

  2. Today we are going to Pell City so I can paint the boys' beds. I'm getting ready to swap their rooms and make room for baby Layne.

  3. Evan told me his favorite color is blue. He sometimes changes his mind to green when Logan is telling me what his is.

  4. Logan said he is going to help me change Layne's diapers when she gets here. Evan insists he will not.

  5. Logan said he wants to keep his big boy bed just like it is and says Evan can just sleep in the toy box because he will fit.

Hiding

I've been boxing up some stuff so I can get the boys in the same bedroom.
Earlier today I hear, "Mommy, where are I?"

Then I found the little stinker.

Week 19

Layne is as big as a mango!
From thebump.com - Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

The Friday Five

  1. It is taking absolutely everything in me not to buy every little, frilly, ruffled, pinkish, matching hair bow included, girly girl outfit in every store! Self control please Shannon!!
  2. Thanks to everyone for all the congratulation messages we have received!
  3. Next week is spring break here, meaning no big boy school. Mr. Sun, please be bright and warm next week so we can have some burn off some energy play time outside!
  4. I'm test driving a van today, fingers crossed I like it.
  5. My biggest craving with this baby so far: milk and more milk - which is crazy because normally I am not a big milk drinker.

Week 18

Some answers to some questions we've been getting:
1. Layne is pronounced "Lane" as in street or avenue or as in the rodeo guy Lane Frost.
2. If Layne was a boy (like I thought!) his name would have been Lane Caleb.
3. Logan's reaction:
Me: You're gonna have a baby sister!
Logan: Why?
Me: I guess that's what God thought we needed.
Logan: Why? Are you sure?
Me: I know! What are we going to do with a little girl?
Logan: I guess we'll feed her.
4. Evan didn't really care when I told him. He was more worried about showing me his stamp he got in chapel at big boy school. It was a lion and he made lion noises all the way home.

Layne is as big as a sweet potato!
From thebump.com - Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

Sunny Days

Another sunny day at Overton Park:

*new posts below

It's a girl!

Everything looked great today! She is measuring 4 days ahead but the dr said she is still not as big as her older brothers were at this age. She is in the 82% for 18 weeks. Her heart rate was 146.
Here are some pictures from the ultrasound.

View of her little butt and girl parts. You can see her fingers on her rear end. She had her hands between her legs most of the time :)

Right foot and left ankle.

Front of her face.

We are so excited! I'm surprised and sort of shocked but still excited. Chris is over the moon. He is starting to get nervous though - he asked the ultrasound tech on the way out if she had a manual for little girls. She said there was no such thing and GOOD LUCK!

Leeds Park/Weekend Pictures

Yesterday we went to Leeds Park and had a picnic and played. The weather was great and many others had the same idea - the park was packed!
(Thanks for the pictures, Nana!)

Yeah!

I was able to move my dr appt up to Tuesday morning next week. 2 days sooner!

The Friday Five

  1. Baby #3 is a mover and a shaker already! I'm feeling lots of movements.

  2. I cleaned out the boys' closets this week. Trying to make room for spring/summer clothes!

  3. Evan is so smart! He walks around counting everything now - sometimes a little out of order, but he's getting the hang of it. I can tell they are practicing numbers and letters at school.

  4. I cannot wait for some warmer weather this weekend!! I'm sure we'll have some picnics outside.

  5. I believe my pregnancy sickness is for the most part over! I've been feeling great this past week, even getting some extra energy back (and my appetite plus some!).

Hero/Character Day

Still in Dr. Seuss week, today is Hero/Character Day at school. I pulled Buzz and Woody out of the closet from Halloween and they barely fit my big boys.
Logan and Evan were very excited about wearing their costumes today. Here they are showing me some superhero moves!

Week 17

Baby M is the size of an onion!
From thebump.com - Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

Silly Hat Day

This week is Dr. Seuss week at school. Each day is a different, do-something-kinda-funny day. Today is silly hat day. Logan wanted to make one just like we did last year, so he did and Evan thought he was big stuff getting to make his too!

Poll

Since my gender poll is officially closed, I thought I'd add a new one. I shared last week that we have a name for baby #3, it will be the same whether it's a boy or a girl. What do you think the baby's name starts with? Vote on the right!
Just for fairness, Chris and I will not vote on this one :)

So, I will know for their baby books - the gender poll was:

24 thinks its a girl
11 thinks its a boy

We'll see in 9 days!

Chandler's 3rd Birthday Party

Yesterday we headed up to Mooresville for Chandler's 3rd Birthday Party! I think this was the most unique party we have ever been to. There was a petting zoo, pony rides, hayrides, and a fire pit to roast marsh mellows and drink hot chocolate.
Logan and Evan had such a great time!!

Logan on his first turn on the hayride - Evan wasn't interested.

Evan feeding the duck crackers.

The birthday girl riding the pony.

Logan checking out the goat.

Feeding the duck...I think we overfed the duck :(

Logan holding the baby bunny.

Evan got brave and wanted to try and hold a bunny too.

This is Evan pulling my hand off the bunny, he didn't want to share bunny time with mommy.

Cookie Cake time!

Evan digging in!

Logan, Luke and Lillie going on the last hayride of the day.
