Layne's Baby Shower

Saturday morning was Layne's Baby Shower. I really appreciate Jen Cox, Sara Watkins, and Vanar Holmes for offering to throw a shower for her, it really meant a lot to me. I also really appreciate the ones that came to show Layne how much she is already loved.
The shower invitation.
The cute napkins.

My mom made these adorable 'Thank yous' from Layne for each guest.

The food spread - everything was so yummy!

Me and the hostesses (thank you again!)

Me and Anna Grace

Me and Sara, my sister in law

Me trying to bend over and open gifts - if you can't tell, I am already quite large from little bit growing!

Anna and baby Melanie (Sarah Tucker's 3rd). She is so sweet and she was so good!!

This is my most favorite gift I have received so far (just because of who it's from). Logan and Evan told Nana (my mom) that Layne needed some friends to sleep with. They call their favorite stuffed animals "Friends". One morning while I had a dr's appt, Nana took the boys and bought Layne a whole basket of toys and friends. They were so excited about showing me everything. It was a great surprise for me. Thanks Nana, for taking them to do that - you always go above and beyond!
Here's the card that was attached.

I opened at the lake on Father's Day weekend, since the boys were not going to the shower.

Weeks 33-36, Month 8

Layne is as big as a honeydew!
From thebump.com - Baby’s senses are continuing to improve -- when light peeks in through your (extremely) stretched belly, those tiny eyelids and irises blink and dilate. And, baby can now recognize and react to simple songs… time to start practicing your lullabies! Growth (at least inside your womb) is starting to slow, and you may notice baby descend into your pelvis at the end of this month.

Father's Day 2010

We went to the lake to spend the weekend for Father's Day. Jay, Sara, and Cooper joined us. It was great weather and the boys loved playing in the pool and sprinkler. Papa and Nana made homemade ice cream too! Happy Father's Day to the many outstanding fathers out there, especially the great father to my sweet babies and my dad.

Logan and Evan on the slip n slide.

Layne and I hanging out in a chair under the sprinkler - it was so hot, that's the only way I made it outside all day!

Logan figured out how to jump off the side of the pool into the water.

I'm surprised we had no broken bones.

Evan playing ball - look how he sticks his tongue out when he concentrates (just like his daddy).

The Friday Five

  1. We are officially potty training - or you can say just peeing on the floor. Evan hasn't quite grasped it, but we're working on it.
  2. I bribe my children with candy when they are potty training.
  3. This positive reinforcement works great with Evan seeing as how he loves candy.
  4. He is so stinking cute when he tries to pee pee in the potty. He holds his wee-wee and says "Pee pee come out of this hole and make bubbles in 'dat potty so I can get some candy!!" *He's going to hate me for telling everyone this one day*
  5. He is also obsessed with flushing the toilet. Whether or not pee pee comes out when he tries, he flushes it. Can't wait to see this month's water bill.

Layne's 4D Pictures

We tried again today to get Layne's 4D pictures made. She was in a little better position this week, the tech got some good face shots. I still say she looks like Evan (she has the same nose). Her face is smushed between my placenta and her left arm.

Layne's Nursery

I finished Layne's nursery decor this week. I got a lot of stuff at Hobby Lobby for 50% off.

I made this painting. It's a double canvas, so it looks layered in person. I found one similar to it at a store for way more than my budget, so I figured I could paint my own for much cheaper ($10).
Close up.

I also made Layne's hair bow holder. I haven't been able to find one I liked so I bought some precious ribbon that matched a frame I liked and .... ta da!!

Close up.

This is above her changing table.

And last, her name letters that I have already posted a couple months back.
It's still surreal decorating in pinks and pastels. Chris walked in her room tonight and said "it sure is girly in here!"
It's so fun!

Huntsville Trip

Yesterday we went to Huntsville to visit Mimi and Mawmaw. We had a picnic and fed the ducks/geese. We went to the Early Works Museum and to the Train Depot. We ended the day with mommy's favorite ice cream - Baskin Robbins!! The kids had a blast even though it was scorching hot outside!
Here's some pictures from our day:

The Friday Five

  1. Did you know that the Dollar Tree (or at least the one in Chelsea) sells Sunday papers for only a dollar?!?!
  2. Evan's new saying that I just love..."What's takin' you so long?"
  3. My kids absolutely love puzzles and I'm so glad. I think they are a great learning tool, I just hate cleaning them up.
  4. Another morning at the pool today. My babies look like beach bums with their blonde hair and tanned bellies. So cute.
  5. Evan's allergies have started acting up again. This morning he woke up with a runny nose and swollen eyes. Thank heavens for zyrtec.

Sprinkler Fun

I turned on our sprinkler because the kids were begging to play outside this morning. They turned the activity into a 'wash our dirty toys' event. Check out the pile up.
