Trails of Africa

Today we went to check out the Trails of Africa at the Bham Zoo after the ball game.

These cute little baby storks were born just 2 weeks ago!  I love to see baby animals.

We also walked by the lions while the male was trying to "make his move" on the female.  Thank goodness Logan said "Look!  He's trying to wrestle her!  He's so silly!!"  Oh, so not ready for that conversation yet.  Let's leave it at 'wrestling'.

Teething

Layne has been pretty cranky these past few days because of teething - and has been napping a little more than usual. I wish all her teeth would just go ahead and all come in.

The Friday Five

  1. Layne got her 2nd tooth Tuesday. Bottom-middle-right. Right next to her 1st.
  2. We went out to dinner Tuesday night and Layne leans halfway across the table and pulls her HOT broccoli and cheese soup on her hand. We dunked it in ice water and I aloed and aquaphored the mess out of it when we got home. Seems not to have bothered her a bit after the initial burn. However, I am scarred for life because of it.
  3. We officially have a contract on a house! Close date - June 15th. Excited is an understatement.
  4. Took the kids to see Gnomeo and Juliet at the $1 theater this week. Cute movie.
  5. Still praying for all those families that are grieving right now because of lost loved ones from the horrific storm.  So thankful my family and friends are safe.

Easter 2011

Our Easter weekend was so relaxing (just what this momma needed).  Sunday morning the kids woke up all excited to see what the Easter bunny had brought them.  We quickly dressed and headed to the lake for a day in the sun with family.

My mom made Layne's Easter basket.  I love the way it turned out!

The boys insisted on wearing their batman bathing suits, hulk shirts, and toy story flip flops that the Easter bunny had left them to the lake.  They did have their swimmies on too, but I talked them out of those.

Trying out the slip in slide that Mimi brought them.

She loves to watch her big brothers!

I don't know who to thank more - Crayola or the Easter bunny - for these very messy, very well advertised color bubbles that the boys had to have!  **Do not purchase**  The bubbles soon ended up as body paint to see what super hero they could turn in to - The Hulk, Captain America, or the Thing!

Happy, Happy Easter Everyone!!

The Friday Five

The Friday Five Ten (since I missed last week!!)
  1. Last week I went to Atlanta for the weekend for a dance competition.  The girls did great and got to meet some awesome choreographers.
  2. I think each of my kids grew 2 inches while I was gone.
  3. We took the first boat ride of the year late Sunday afternoon at the lake.  Loved it :)
  4. Logan and Evan swam in the pool for the first time this year this week.  Layne wanted right in there with them.
  5. I took Evan to the doctor Wednesday because he woke up and wouldn't move his neck.  My first thought - meningitis - I freak out!!  Dr. McCain ruled that out, thankfully, but said she thinks it could be strep (even though the test came back negative).  He is on an antibiotic.
  6. I went to the doctor Thursday for a checkup.  The Dr ended up giving me a zpack because I was so congested.  Thank you, thank you, thank you - can you tell, I am not against medication.
  7. Layne is starting to wave bye-bye.
  8. Layne's 1st true solid foods were given the past 2 weeks - real bananas, mac n cheese, and grilled cheese.  Loved all the above, but REALLY loves mac n cheese :)
  9. The dance recital cannot get here fast enough.  I need a break or at least one weekend I don't have to go to the studio.
  10. I need to schedule some professional pictures to be made of the kids.  Always open to photographer suggestions....

Easter Party at School

Logan had his Easter party at school today. Moms pitched in money for pizza, cupcakes, and chips and dip. Evan's class doesn't have parties that parents come to, so it works out me not having to juggle between the two just yet.

Layne eating her dress. She now takes off her bow, shoes, socks, etc. She wants to just be naked pretty much all the time :)

Easter Eggs

Wednesday we dyed Easter eggs. I had bought a Lightning McQueen dye set and the boys went to town.
